How to Make a Birthday Money Card with Cricut (5 Minute Laminator Hack)

Sometimes you need a quick birthday card, but you still want it to look special. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a fun birthday money card using Cricut Print Then Cut and a laminator.

The best part? This project takes less than five minutes, and the result looks like a professional store-bought card.

This card is perfect when you want to give money as a gift, but still want something more personal than just handing over cash.

Materials

To make this Cricut birthday money card you will need:

Cricut machine, laminator, laminating pouch, printer, cardstock or paper, Cricut cutting mat, adhesive tape, money bill

Step 1 – Print the Card Design

Start by opening the design in Cricut Design Space and selecting Print Then Cut.

Send the design to your printer and print it on paper or light cardstock. Cricut will automatically add registration marks around the design so the machine knows exactly where to cut.

Tip:
Make sure your printer prints the registration marks clearly. This helps Cricut detect the design correctly during cutting.

Step 2 – Laminate the Printed Sheet

Next, place the printed sheet into a laminating pouch and run it through your laminator.

Laminating the card has several benefits:

  • It makes the card stronger and more durable
  • It gives the card a nice glossy finish
  • It makes the card look more professional
  • The money holder can be torn off later without damaging the card

This simple step instantly upgrades your handmade card.

Step 3 – Cricut Print Then Cut

Once the laminated sheet has cooled down, place it on your Cricut cutting mat.

Load the mat into your Cricut machine and let Cricut scan the registration marks. The machine will then cut perfectly around the card design.

For laminated sheets, using a light cardstock setting or sticker paper setting usually works best.

Step 4 – Prepare the Money Holder

While the Cricut is cutting, prepare the money holder.

Simply place adhesive tape along the sides of the holder. This will create a small pocket where the money can slide in later.

Make sure to leave the top open so the money can easily be inserted.

Step 5 – Remove the Card from the Mat

Once the cutting is finished, remove the card from the mat.

The best way to do this is to bend the mat away from the project instead of pulling the project off the mat.

This helps keep the card flat and prevents curling or tearing.

Step 6 – Insert the Money

Now simply slide the money into the holder pocket.

And just like that, you have a fun birthday money card that looks professional and took only a few minutes to make.

Why This Cricut Card Is So Popular

This type of card is becoming very popular because it combines:

  • A personal handmade card
  • A money gift
  • A quick and easy Cricut project

It’s perfect for:

  • Kids birthdays
  • Teen birthdays
  • Last-minute gifts

Final Result

In just a few minutes you created a laminated birthday card with a built-in money holder that looks polished and unique.
