Easter baskets, handmade gifts, and classroom treats become extra special when you add custom gift tags. In this tutorial I will show you two easy ways to make Cricut Easter gift tags using your Cricut machine.
You will learn how to create beautiful tags using:
✏️ Cricut Pen Tool (drawn tags)
🖨️ Print Then Cut (full color tags)
Both methods use the same design but create very different results. The pen version creates a minimalist look, while the print then cut version produces vibrant, colorful tags.
These tags are perfect for:
- Easter baskets
- Kids gifts
- Classroom treats
- Handmade presents
- Party favors
Materials You Will Need
To make these Cricut Easter gift tags you will need:
Tools
- Cricut Maker / Cricut Explore / Cricut Joy Xtra
- Cricut Design Space
- Cricut pens
- Home printer (for Print Then Cut)
Materials
- Cardstock
- Twine or ribbon
- Glue or adhesive tape
- Scissors or hole punch
Optional:
- Foam adhesive for layered tags
- Laminating sheets for durability
Method 1: Cricut Pen Tool Gift Tags
The pen tool method is great if you want a clean, minimalist tag without printing.
Step 1 – Upload your design
Open Cricut Design Space and upload your Easter tag SVG file.
Insert the tag shape and the gnome illustration.
Step 2 – Change the design to Draw
Select the gnome illustration and change the operation from:
Cut → Draw
Then choose your Cricut pen color.
Step 3 – Attach the design
Select the tag shape and the drawing layer.
Click:
Attach
This ensures the Cricut draws the image in the correct position before cutting the tag.
Step 4 – Load your mat
Place your cardstock on a LightGrip mat.
Insert your Cricut pen into the machine.
Press Make It.
Your Cricut will:
- Draw the design
- Cut the tag shape
Step 5 – Assemble the tag
After cutting:
- Thread twine or ribbon through the hole
- Attach the tag to your gift
The result is a clean outline-style Easter tag.
Method 2: Print Then Cut Gift Tags
If you want colorful designs like the example shown above, use Print Then Cut.
Step 1 – Prepare the design
Insert the colored tag design in Cricut Design Space.
Select all layers and click:
Flatten
This converts the design into a Print Then Cut image.
Step 2 – Print the design
Click Make It.
Cricut Design Space will add a black registration box around the design.
Print the sheet using your home printer.
Use high quality print settings for the best results.
Step 3 – Cut with Cricut
Place the printed sheet onto your cutting mat.
Load the mat into your Cricut.
The Cricut will scan the registration marks and cut perfectly around the tag.
Step 4 – Assemble your tag
Add:
- Twine
- Ribbon
- Layered cardstock backing
This creates a professional looking Easter gift tag.
Which Method Is Better?
Both Cricut methods have advantages.
Cricut Pen Tool

Use pastel Easter colors
Soft yellows, blues, pinks, and greens make your tags feel more festive.
