Halloween is the perfect time to get crafty — and today, we’re turning our paper scraps into spooky-cute magic! In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make four layered Halloween cards using just paper scraps, foam tape, glue, and my spooky SVG designs.
These cards are fun, beginner-friendly, and ideal for any Cricut, scanncut or Silhouette user. Whether you’re making Halloween cards, décor, or party invitations, this project adds a charmingly spooky touch to your holiday crafting!
🕸️ What You’ll Need
Here’s everything I used to make these layered Halloween cards:
- 🧡 Paper scraps or cardstock in assorted colors
- ✂️ Foam tape or adhesive dots (for layering)
- 💀 Craft glue or double-sided tape
- 🖤 My Spooky Halloween SVG Bundle — available here
👻 Step 1: Cut Your SVG Layers
Start by uploading your SVG files into Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio.
Each design includes multiple layers that stack perfectly for a 3D, dimensional effect.
Cut each layer from different papers — think orange, purple, black, and silver for that Halloween feel.
💡 Tip: Smaller scraps work great for detailed pieces like ghosts, bows, or lettering.
🕷️ Step 2: Assemble the “Halloween” Ghost Card
- Begin with a light-colored card base.
- Glue the black spider web layer on top.
- Add your ghost with foam tape for dimension.
- Finish with the orange “Halloween” word across the bottom.
This card sets the tone — spooky but still sweet!
🎩 Step 3: Create the “BOO” Witch Hat Ghost
- Layer a bright orange background over a glittery black frame.
- Pop the ghost in the center using foam tape.
- Add the witch hat at an angle.
- Glue down the “BOO” letters for that classic Halloween look.
This design makes a fun party invite or quick card for friends!
🎃 Step 4: Make the “Happy Halloween” Ghost Frame
- Cut your “Happy Halloween” frame in purple glitter paper.
- Glue it over an orange background.
- Add your ghost in the center for depth.
Simple, bold, and perfectly festive!
💜 Step 5: Assemble the “Spooky” Bow Ghost
- Prepare your background layers.
- Add your ghost using foam tape.
- Glue on the bow and draw rosy cheeks.
- Attach the “Spooky” word to finish.
This one’s my favorite — cute, pink, and just a little witchy!
🪄 Step 6: Show Off Your Finished Cards
And that’s it! You’ve made four layered Halloween cards using just paper scraps and SVG designs. Each one has its own personality — from cute to classic spooky.
Display them, gift them, or use them as Halloween décor. You can even add ribbons or magnets to the back!
🕷️ Final Thoughts
Crafting for Halloween doesn’t have to be complicated — just a few layers of paper and a good SVG design can make something magical. 💜
